Your Dream Bathroom, En suite or Wet room Starts here

Whether you have a small or large bathroom, you'll want to get the best for your money.

Your bathroom, shower room, or wet room should be functional and practical, but also somewhere you can unwind.

With so many different types of bathrooms available, from a conventional standard bath, toilet and basin, right through to a wet room or cloakroom with no bath or shower. Whatever your set up, think about who will use the bathroom and how, ask yourself the following questions to get the maximum out of your new bathroom design.

Is it a family bathroom? If so, you'll probably want to factor in lots of storage space. Think about how much storage space you will need in your bathroom. You can get built-in bathroom cabinets - for example ones that sit around the basin, which will make use of wasted space - or freestanding bathroom cabinets that give you flexibility to move it around. Corner units are a good way to make use of space. Sticks and Stones Interiors offer a wide range of quality bathroom furniture brands with endless solutions.

Do you rarely bath but always shower? Then consider a standalone shower or wet room instead of installing a bath you won't use. With so many shower enclosure options available including; walk in shower, quadrant shower sliding door shower, and pivot door shower, along with acrylic and stone resin shower trays. We then have the options of framed or frameless shower screens. Wet rooms provide the option of a wet area used solely for showering; wet rooms should be fully sealed and tanked, fully tiled. Allow for space and distance should a toilet and basin be fitted in the same area.

If you like baths and showers, a bath with a shower over it would give you the option to be flexible. Shower baths offer an excellent showering option, the shower bath screen allows you to combine showering and bathing and maximises the space available. Available in left and right hand L and P shape bath options.

Is space at a premium? Think about how you could incorporate storage cupboards on the walls rather than floor, maybe above the bath or even built-in underneath. Bathroom cabinets fitted under the sink make good use of wasted space

Do you want to use your bathroom to relax in? Consider getting a freestanding bath for a luxurious feel and having somewhere close by to store candles, aroma therapies, bubble bath and magazines; don’t forget somewhere to place the all-important glass of wine too.

Whirlpool baths offer a different form of relaxation with the de-stressing and massaging effect of the body jets.

Are you a couple sharing the bathroom? How about getting two basins to make getting ready in the morning less chaotic?

Adding an en suite or extra loo can make a big difference saving on the trek to the loo in the early hours of the morning or when you have visitors, not to mention adding value to your home.

Asking yourself these questions will help you define the little changes to make or elements to incorporate that will make a lot of difference to your bathroom and your enjoyment of it.

Toilet Types:

Closed Coupled WC: This toilet is the most popular option. The pan and cistern are connected together without any additional pipe work. It is available in a wide variety of styles.

Back to Wall WC: This contemporary toilet is designed to be installed with a cistern base cabinet. All of the cistern fittings are concealed in the cistern base cabinet, giving the toilet a modern and fitted look.

Low Level and Comfort Height WC: This style creates a more traditional look. The cistern is at a low level on the wall and is connected to the pan by a flush pipe. This toilet is operated by a traditional lever flush.

Wall Hung WC: This is a very modern style toilet that is designed to be installed with a cistern base cabinet. The pan has no contact with the floor, and all of the cistern fittings are concealed in the cistern base cabinet.

Full pedestal – Full pedestal basins are by far the most common type of pedestal. This pedestal conceals most common household pipe work, running from the floor to the basin.

Half pedestal – Semi pedestal this does not meet the floor and is designed to conceal pipe work coming through the wall.

Counter top basins – These basins products sit on top of a solid counter, as part of a vanity unit or a stand-alone shelf.

According to Wikipedia “a bath tub is a large container for holding water in which a person may bathe” We all know that a bath tub is so much more than that, it can be

a place of tranquillity, peace and relaxation, equally it can be a place for pandemonium and fun when we bathe our children. Either way Sticks and Stones Interiors have the bath for you

Traditional baths – are the most popular type of bath tub, fitted in millions of home throughout the world. Available in a variety of sizes and materials: acrylic or steel.

Free standing baths: including claw foot and pedestal baths - many of us dream of a free standing bath and the opulent, luxurious images they conjure up in our minds. Free standing bath design is an area where designers have been most creative and innovative with their ideas incorporating new materials, shapes and designs.

Single or Double ended baths – These baths can be of the free standing or the traditional type, depending on your bathing requirements you may choose to bathe alone or with company.

Shower bath – shower baths are available in L shape or P shape to allow for more room whilst showering. Shower baths come with right hand or left hand fitting option. Shower bath screens designed for your particular choice of bath provide the all-important barrier to prevent the bathroom becoming a wet room.

Whirlpool baths – as with so many innovations whirlpool baths were in the past a pleasure for the rich and famous to enjoy. Today they are an option that we can all consider and aspire to, so go on indulge, get the jets working, add some mood lighting and music and take away the stresses and strains.
